How Can severe Recurring Cough Be Treated?

I have a recurring cough,,,productive. It feels like it s in my throat. not my chest. It s been going on for 2+ months. I was given a shot of solumedrol and a round of prednisone and began feeling better within hours, but never went completely away. Now it s starting to get worse again.
